Ask any group of kids what they want to be when they grow up and you'll probably get a wide range of answers spanning many careers. Some will say lawyer, police officer or fireman, others will say quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, some might respond with Hollywood actress or director, a few will most certainly say they want to play hockey for the Toronto Maple Leafs, one person might even say teacher of yoga classes in Scarborough. As you can see, most of those answers involve being in the spotlight of some sort or becoming rich and famous.

Another typical answer you'll here is doctor. A lot of kids grow up wanting to be a doctor because they want to help people get better. It's a very noble dream job. Kids grow up wanting to be a doctor but they never specify that they want to be a rhinoplasty surgeon in Toronto or a cardiologist in North Vancouver. They just don't know the different types of doctors that there are. They can differentiate between doctors and Stouffville eye doctors or dentists but that's about it.

If they do continue to follow their dream of being a doctor as they grow up they'll soon find out about the different medical careers available. There's a huge array of medical careers available in such fields as nursing, medical research, insurance claims, medical equipment design or pharmaceutical sales. As you can see, the world of medicine is more than just being a doctor.

Not to mention all the different types of fields of medicine there are in which one can study. In addition to growing up and becoming a general practitioner or family doctor, one can become an audiologist, dermatologist, gastroenterologist, Woodbridge orthodontist, microbiologist, neurologist, oncologist, pediatrician, psychiatrist, plastic surgeon, or urologist, just to name a few.

That's a lot of different fields of medicine in which one can study. Whatever you're interested in, be it hearing, seeing, surgery, dental veneers in Toronto, kidneys, cancer, animals, or kids, there is a field of medicine for it. Or, like we mentioned above, you can still have a career in the field of medicine without having to be a doctor or going to medical school for most of your adult life.

If all you want to do is help people or be in the business of helping people, then there's a career of some sort in medicine for you. No matter how hard someone wants to be family doctor they just don't have the mind for medicine that some people do. However they might have a knack for sales. In which case they can become a pharmaceutical rep. Whatever their strengths are, they can tailor a career in medicine to them.
